Brigham Young University’s Young Ambassadors celebrate Father’s Day this year with a new video release, “My Heavenly Father Loves Me,” featuring guest violinist Megumi Terry, and families and friends of the Young Ambassadors.

Filmed at the beautiful Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point, the world-traveled company turned their thoughts to home and family as they performed this beloved melody from their childhood.

“When Clara McMaster wrote this favorite children’s song in 1961,” said Young Ambassador artistic director Randy Boothe, “little did she realize that hundreds of thousands of children would be singing this song in many languages world-wide.”

Since 1970, the BYU Young Ambassadors have traditionally shared their brand of music and dance in major concert halls, in televised appearances and in outreach and devotional performances in 68 countries around the world beginning with their first entrance into the international spotlight at Expo ’70 in Osaka, Japan. The company recently returned from a spring tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe.

“As we have traveled the world, sharing our love through the universal language of music, our eyes have certainly been opened to God’s magnificent creations,” commented Preston Taylor, president of the BYU Young Ambassadors. “It’s humbling to realize that Heavenly Father created this amazing world for all of His children everywhere.”

Appreciative audiences of many faiths and cultural backgrounds around the globe have resonated with this song’s simple message of gratitude to a Heavenly Father, a song that has been performed as an encore in the BYU Young Ambassador stage performances for the past three decades. Boothe wrote the vocal arrangement and recent BYU Commercial Music graduate Michael Biancardi did the orchestration.

“I love this song because it teaches such a simple yet powerful truth—there is a God who loves you,” commented Megan Sacket, a BYU Young Ambassador. “As we recorded it, it made me think of the little things in life that our Heavenly Father has given me to show His love, from the great big sky all the way down to the song of a bird. I have felt the love of God, and we hope that as others listen to the music they can feel that love too.”

This Father’s Day, the BYU Young Ambassadors invite everyone to enjoy their expression of appreciation to the Father of us all.

The digital single “My Heavenly Father Loves Me” is set to release through BYU Records June 16, and will be available on iTunes and Spotify. Check out the inspiring video below.  To read more about the Young Ambassadors featured in the video, head to the BYU Young Ambassadors’ Facebook page.
