About Theatre Ballet
Prince Siegfried arrives at his 21st birthday celebration to find all of the royal families and townspeople celebrating, while the young girls seek his attention. During the celebration, his mother gives him a crossbow and informs him that because he is now of age, his marriage will be quickly arranged. Hit with the sudden realization of his future responsibilities, he makes haste to the woods to hunt with his friends. Separating himself from the group, Siegfried discovers a peaceful spot by an enchanted lake where swans gently float across the surface. As he watches, he spots an elegant swan with a crown on its head. As dusk falls, the swan with the crown turns into the most beautiful young woman he has ever seen. Her name is Odette, the Swan Queen. Odette and the other swans dance on the lake as she and the prince fall in love in Swan Lake. Theatre Ballet will make audience members feel as if they entered the enchanted lake themselves.
BYU Theatre Ballet invites all to attend the Swan Lake pre-show Prince and Princess Party in which both the young and young at heart can dress as princes and princesses, meet company members, take pictures, and even dance with members of the cast.
