Wind Symphony Breezes Into Another Season

The 2025-2026 season is certainly going to be busy for BYU Wind Symphony. They will perform several campus concerts, along with a regional performance in Wyoming. In the spring of 2026, these shows will culminate in a tour to beautiful Brazil! However, if you don’t happen to be from Brazil, here’s what you need to know about their local concerts this year:
Friday, October 10: War and Peace– The BYU Wind Symphony performs powerful music centered on themes of war and peace, including music from Gustav Holst’s The Planets, Gustav Mahler’s “Um Mitternacht” with soprano Diane Reich, and Karel Husa’s masterpiece, Music for Prague 1968. The concert will also feature guest conductor Thomas Leslie, director of bands at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Tuesday, November 11: For Heroes Proved: A Veteran’s Day Celebration-The BYU Wind Symphony honors and celebrates our nation’s veterans in this fun and patriotic concert.
Thursday, February 12: Sounds, Shapes, and Shades: Join the BYU Wind Symphony in a colorful and captivating concert featuring Frank Ticheli’s rollicking, jazz-inspired work Blue Shades. The concert will also feature BYU graduate conducting students Mickayla Hunter and Xinbo Li.
Friday, March 13: BYU Concert Band Festival Featured Concert: The BYU Wind Symphony presents the featured concert of the BYU Concert Band Festival, which brings over 1,200 junior high and high school students to campus for a two-day celebration of bands. Joining the Wind Symphony is the festival’s featured high school band, the Lone Peak High School Wind Ensemble, and conductor Jamie Kim.
Friday, April 10: A Brazilian Celebration! Brazilian guest conductor Marcelo Jardim joins the BYU Wind Symphony in a concert featuring the joy and passion of Brazilian music. The concert is a prelude to the upcoming BYU Wind Symphony concert tour through Brazil in spring 2026.
