PROVO, UT – Noteworthy, BYU’s premier female a cappella group, was awarded 1st place at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) Northwest Quarterfinal.

In addition to Noteworthy’s overall win, the “Outstanding Vocal Percussion” award was given to beat boxer Sarah Cunha for her percussion throughout Noteworthy’s entire set.

According to the official website, the ICCA uses a bracket system over a series of four months to crown an a cappella champion from one of the included nine regions in the U.S. and Europe. Due to other performing opportunities, Noteworthy will have to forgo competing in the next round of the competition.

“[Competing] was a good opportunity to perform for judges and not just fans,” said Director Keith Evans. “It’s important to get some critical feedback and to always be improving.”
