“On our first day in Brazil we stopped by a soccer museum. Right outside of the museum were a few people riding motorcycles around the museum parking lot. Ivan [another member of Living Legends] told me that I had to be the translator, since Spanish is close to Portuguese. I was tired and not really in the mood, but surely Ivan and I walked over to them to talk about motorcycles. Ivan had me ask them a few questions about the motorcycles, and very patiently we tried to communicate with each other.

“They ended up asking us where we were from and what we were doing. We tried to communicate that we were from the United States and we came to dance, and we invited them to our show the next day. They asked us where the show was going to be, and before we had the chance to answer, another team member, Kyran, ran and gave them a flyer that listed all of the shows we were going to have and their location and time! Right after that, Thiago, who was the international relations rep from Brazil, came and explained with more detail who we were and exchanged information with them.

“To our surprise, they came to the show the next day! After the show they asked Thiago where they would be able to learn more about our religion and what we believed. Thiago led them to the missionaries. We were informed that two weeks later they had set a baptismal date!”
